We are now looking for a Head of Cybersecurity to lead Polestar’s Cybersecurity domain at our headquarters in Gothenburg.

Let us describe the challenge we offer

As Head of Cybersecurity, you will lead Polestar’s Cybersecurity domain with accountability for the execution, performance, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity engineering and security operations across enterprise IT, cloud platforms, and product environments.

This senior leadership role sits within the Security organization and is accountable for ensuring that cybersecurity capabilities are effectively implemented and operated in alignment with Polestar’s security strategy, business objectives, and risk appetite. You will provide direction, prioritization, and oversight across cybersecurity engineering and operations, ensuring effective delivery and clear risk visibility.

As a key execution partner to the CSO, you will translate strategy into operational outcomes while managing and developing leadership and senior specialist roles within the domain.

This is a people manager role with responsibility for leading teams within cybersecurity engineering and security operations. The position is located at our HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden. We believe in empowerment and offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work from home a couple of days per week.

What you'll do

You will lead, manage, and continuously improve Polestar’s Cybersecurity domain, ensuring effective cybersecurity engineering and security operations across the enterprise and product environments.

You will:

  • Lead and manage Polestar’s Cybersecurity domain, covering cybersecurity engineering and security operations

  • Directly manage and develop lead and specialist roles within the domain

  • Own execution of the areas of responsibility defined for Security Engineering & Operations

  • Ensure effective cybersecurity engineering across infrastructure, cloud, identity, endpoint, and application security

  • Ensure effective security operations, including threat intelligence, SOC/VSOC, event and incident management, and incident response

  • Ensure effective collaboration with Product Cybersecurity domain to ensure well-functioning end-to-end delivery of engineering and operations

  • Set priorities, allocate resources, and balance demand across engineering and operations

  • Govern performance and contractual compliance of outsourced managed security services providers

  • Define, track, and report cybersecurity KPIs, risk indicators, and maturity metrics

  • Collaborate closely with Security Governance & Assurance, Product Cybersecurity, Digital, R&D, and Corporate Security

  • Provide regular reporting and risk insights to the CSO and executive stakeholders

Who you are

You are a confident and experienced cybersecurity leader with strong technical depth and the ability to operate at enterprise level. You combine hands‑on understanding of cybersecurity engineering and operations with strong leadership, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills. You thrive in a complex, fast‑paced, and cross‑functional environment.

To be a great fit for this position, we believe you have:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, including leadership roles across engineering and/or operations

  • Minimum 5 years of people‑management experience leading senior specialists and lead‑level roles

  • Strong technical understanding of cybersecurity engineering, cloud and infrastructure security, IAM, and security operations

  • Experience overseeing security monitoring, incident response, and threat intelligence capabilities

  • Experience managing hybrid delivery models with internal teams and external providers

  • Proven ability to translate cybersecurity strategy into executable plans and measurable outcomes

  • Strong leadership, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field; relevant certifications are valued
